A man has denied raping a 90-year-old pensioner but Daniel Simonetti pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, by penetration.
The attack happened at her Ashton home on
February 11.
The 31-year-old, of Roper Street, St Helens, is hard of hearing and had an interpreter lip speaking to him in the dock to help him follow the proceedings
during his appearance at Liverpool Crown Court.
Judge John Roberts further remanded him in custody to await sentence on July 9.
He ordered pre-sentence and medical reports to be prepared and warned him that did not imply what sort of sentence would follow.
Defence barrister Paul Treble told the court that Simonetti was "well aware of the type of sentence he will receive."
The rape charge is to be laid on the file when he next returns to court. As he was led back to the cells he waved to supporters sitting in the public
